President's Report The
past month has been very busy and August is likely to be similar.
Picnic for Trees was a success. From my position as MC, it
couldn’t fail. We had Hornsby Council digging the holes in the ground
days before and providing the plants. We had the full support from a
number of local community groups, together with live music from Michael
Bianchino. To cap it off we had Graham and Sandra Ross helping with the
planting. But I believe the key to the success was the attendance of the
Mayor of Hornsby Council. Philip Ruddock’s presence sent a clear
message to our local community that Council does care about our
environment and does support our united community.

Update on Approved Seniors Housing at 6-8 Malton Road Beecroft Development
is underway with the construction of the Seniors Housing
development. There has been substantial email correspondence
between Hornsby Council and nearby residents over the extensive hoarding
around the site and the extra driveways constructed in the street.
The Trust has been advised that Council staff supported the hoarding to
minimise trip hazards in the street and the extra driveways are
temporary for the construction period only in order to better manage
truck movement in Malton Road.

Hornsby Council Matters Hornsby Council currently has two surveys open for comment. One is on sports grounds and the other on painted commercial buildings. There is a draft sportsground strategy for you to comment on till early September. Click here.
The commercial building colour scheme survey is driven by the way a
certain chemist chain is painting their buildings a bright yellow. In an
indirect way, it is a form of advertising. Click here.
Hornsby Council has been holding a number of Community Forums,
